San Francisco in California offers lots of different restaurants for people to eat at when they are visiting on holidays. The main tourist area in Fisherman’s Wharf houses lots of fun and typically American eateries boasting delicious food. America is known for its great service and you won’t be disappointed here. Or, why not venture a little further and try the city’s other cuisines of traditional Italian or authentic Chinese.

By day, if you fancy a light snack on the go, check out the traditional clam chowder served in a bread roll Considered something of a speciality in the area, you can’t leave the area without sampling it. With plenty of cheap holiday deals on offer to San Francisco, you can afford to splash out and eat at some of the city’s great restaurants. A firm favourite for a sit-down meal is Fisherman’s Grotto, the first of its kind in Fisherman’s Wharf which opened its doors in 1935. Served with fresh sourdough bread, the specialities here include a variety of delicious fish dishes from lobster thermidor to crab Louis to Dungeness crab and clam chowder. One of the draws of this restaurant is the outdoor seating area, where you can chow down on delicious seafood whilst gazing out at the Golden Gate Bridge, the Harbour and Russian Hill.

Holidaymakers of all ages flock to Fisherman’s Wharf, on Pier 39. All the classic restaurants can be found here, including Hard Rock Café and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The shrimp fajitas and mahi mahi are both delicious choices at Bubba Gump, a quirky and fun restaurant.

Another must is the Hog Island Oyster Co restaurant, located at the Ferry Building Market Place. This tucked away restaurant even raises its own Manila clams at their farm on Tomales Bay, which you can enjoy here as well as fresh oysters and organic salads. For something less fancy but equally as tasty, order the grilled cheese sandwich and clam chowder, which accompany each other perfectly. Whether its a bottle of beer that you enjoy drinking or a glass of the finest champagne or something a little more local on your cheap holidays, you’ll be spoilt for choice here.
