Why Take Your Loved One On A Honeymoon To Africa?

Why Take Your Loved One On A Honeymoon To Africa?

Africa is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and although it offers a number of amazing places to visit and sights to see, it wouldn’t usually be one of the places to spend your honeymoon – until now. Over the last few years, couples spending their honeymoons in Africa have nearly doubled, and from white sandy beaches to beautiful lush landscapes, it’s clear to see why.

Africa is Mother Nature’s very own back garden, and if you know where to look, there are a variety of stunning and romantic hotspots. Honeymooning in Africa offers a bespoke and sensual alternative to the traditional wedding getaway, and instead of forking out half your life savings on a luxury destination, why not experience the birthplace of beauty instead.

When many people think of Africa, vast open landscapes, guerrilla warfare and economic troubles usually spring to mind. However Africa is one of the few places on Earth big enough to support the biggest animal environment on the planet. Its days are long and warm, and in the midst of a stunning sunset, its nights are cool and starry. What more would you want from a honeymoon? This guide by cruise.co.uk highlights the best of Africa.

The Real Africa

A westerner’s perception of Africa is mainly compiled from what they see on the TV, however the real Africa is actually one of the most amazing and exciting places in the world. To say that the wild and sweeping plains of Africa are an idyllic location for a honeymoon is an understatement, and with hundreds of miles of stunning coastline, there’s never been a better backdrop for a couple in love.

The mass tourism of the Caribbean, or the influence of the west just doesn’t exist in Africa, and it has remained a traditional and cultured continent for hundreds of years. Africa offers a unique setting like no other, and from a brief business trip to a safari holiday, it’s definitely an experience of a lifetime.

Typical Tourist Honeymoons

Many of Africa’s most stunning landscapes and honeymoon settings have remained hidden from the typical tourist, making the continent even more mysterious and enigmatic. Most tourists end up taking their annual summer holiday to a place they’ve already experienced, or a destination that’s been recommended by a friend. When it comes to taking a chance, and choosing a destination that you’re unfamiliar with, many people would place Africa at the bottom of their list.

But actually, Africa’s clear blue skies, picturesque sunsets and amazing hospitality rivals any other honeymoon destination in the world. In many cases it’s a lot better, and you get much better value for your money than you would in a city break or resort holiday. No matter what time of year you’re looking to honeymoon in Africa, there’s always going to be a country that you can enjoy.

From safaris to white water rafting, Africa has it all, and the best thing about it is that it’s all completely natural – none of the activities you can experience while on your honeymoon are man-made. If you want a honeymoon to remember, where you’re constantly surrounded by beauty and tradition, then Africa is the place for you.

How to Choose a Vacation Destination

vacation beach rentals How to Choose a Vacation DestinationYou've got the time off work.

You've bookmarked all the good travel websites.

You've had your passport renewed.

Your family/friends/mental health has been begging for a vacation for the past 6 months.

But where should you go? Deciding on a vacation spot isn't always easy. There are so many places to choose from and the options can be overwhelming at times. To help streamline the process and get you on your way sooner, here are five questions to point you in the direction of your dream vacation sooner rather than later.

Who?

The people you are going to be traveling with dictates a great deal about your vacation destination. Are you traveling with girlfriends? Your family and children? Maybe you are headed out on a solo adventure? If you are going to be taking the kiddies along, a family friendly beach or Disney World destination might be your best bet. However, if you are headed somewhere with just your significant other, you might want to settle for a romantic cabin in the woods for the weekend. If you are toting teenagers along, a service or volunteer trip might have a long lasting impact, where as you and your girlfriends might just want some relaxing time at a spa retreat. Whatever you pick, make sure it is appropriate for all concerned, or no one will end up having a good time.

punta sur17 How to Choose a Vacation Destination

What?

What attractions or activities do you want to see and do while you are gone? Maybe you have always dreamed of seeing New York City at Christmas time, or perhaps you would rather take a step back and visit colonial Williamsburg for a taste of how the early Americans lived life? Maybe you want an adventure hiking the Appalachian Trail or skiing on the slopes of Aspen? Decide if you are looking for culture, relaxation, adventure, or historical on your vacation and you can start zeroing in on your destination.

Weather

Weather isn't the end all be all of your vacation destination, but you want to make sure that you don't blatantly disregard Mother Nature's natural patterns. If you have your heart set on a cruise during the height of hurricane season or skiing during a unseasonably warm winter, you might not get the vacation you had in mind. You can always make the most of the weather conditions you get, but a little planning and research will set yourself up for as close to ideal conditions as possible.

Time

How much time do you have? A weekend? A week? A month? Some destinations are simply not worth the travel time if you don't have adequate time to enjoy them once you get there. For example, if you have the standard week, backpacking around Europe isn't really going to work this time (even if it's your dream). Rather, if you have a month off in the middle of the summer, then the Europe trip might be more in your favor. Don't spend all your vacation time getting to the destination only to have to turn around and come home before you even get a chance to enjoy it.

Budget

For the most part, there are places and things to do in every location, even on a small budget. Just know how much you plan to spend before you leave because it is very easy to overspend once you are actually on vacation. Remember, too, that there are a great number of places that are close to home and relatively inexpensive that can be a memorable vacation for years to come as well.

5 Romantic but Inexpensive Honeymoon Destinations

honeymoon destinations 2 300x225 5 Romantic but Inexpensive Honeymoon Destinations5 Romantic but Inexpensive Honeymoon Destinations

When planning your honeymoon trip, you want a romantic time but usually the expense is a concern. The following is a listing of the 5 most reasonable but romantic locations or trips.

Mexico

Because of all the problems Mexico has had in the past, it is extremely affordable to travel there. Many resorts charge a set fee for all you can eat and drink even alcoholic drinks and room service. And if you choose to go in the summer during the hottest time of the month or during their hurricane season in September or October, you can get discount rates. Many places in Mexico offer dancing, scuba diving, surfing, sailing, horseback riding, whale watching, deep-sea fishing, romantic cruises, and snorkeling as entertainments during your stay.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada can be just what you are looking for in a honeymoon trip. There are hotels that offer deals for weekdays, and sometimes you can purchase gift certificates at certain hotel websites that can be put towards the cost of food. They have gambling at the casinos and dinner shows that can be attended. Or just arrange for the candlelight dinner for two. One of the main attractions of Las Vegas is that you can "Travel the World" with just one trip. You can climb the "Eiffel Tower", take a boat along the Nile, or take a ride on a Venetian canal in a gondola.

Florida

Key West, Florida can be one of the most romantic places on earth. Just use your imagination. Beach strolls in the moonlight, dinner for two by candlelight, sunset cruises or an evening swim with just the two of you. And to fill in the daytime hours, there is an old town area made for leisurely shopping or sightseeing. And if you are up for more excitement, there are amusement parks galore.

Canada

Lake Tahoe, Canada during the summer, is a fantastic place for an inexpensive honeymoon if you book into smaller bed and breakfasts and you enjoy outdoor sports. The evenings can be candlelight dinners for two or walks along the lake in the moonlight. Or if you are looking for more excitement, there are casinos so that you may gamble or enjoy dancing or a show. And during the winter months there is skiing, hiking, dance cruises, casino and camping.

Kauai, Hawaii

The white beaches and inexpensive hotels place Kauai, Hawaii in the top five choices for a honeymoon on a budget. While most of your expense will be from food, there is nothing better than watching a sunset on a Hawaiian beach. There is also a pleasant little town to explore. And if you are more adventurous, you can always take a tour bus to some of the landmarks. But for just the romance, walks on a beach in the moonlight or walks to cascading waterfalls just can't be beat. Learning to do the hula dance is one of many offerings in Hawaii or go to a Luau or on an evening cruise for even more romance.

Are you looking for adventure? There are fewer places on earth that are better suited to raw adventure than Africa. As Africa is the second largest continent in the world only to Asia, it comes as no surprise that it has such a vast array of activities to offer the world. Whether you are looking for an African Safari or whether you are looking for an extreme sports trip to Africa, the continent has it all. Africa has long been famous for its safaris and now as more and more African nations open up, a much wider diverse range of safari is being offered from the standard 4X4 safaris in and out of parks to the much more unusual walking safaris. The accommodation in Africa in most of the National Parks is also second to none including the Sabora Camp or any of the Mara Camps. They make the holiday totally worthwhile. Although a safari is the done thing in Africa some people travel to the continent for something completely different.

Sabora Tented Camp 300x200 Adventure Activities In Africa

Many people travel to Africa with the sole goal to make it to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. People from all corners of the globe flock to Tanzania every year to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Reaching the summit is a feat in itself with a reported 50% of people aiming for the summit having to turn back for a variety of different reasons. I believe its stats like this that bring more people in to take on the challenge to reach Uhuru Peak. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and is a part of the 7 summits challenge which includes the 7 highest peaks in the world and is only attempted by some of the best mountaineers in the world.

If extreme sports is right up your street then you need to make sure you head to Zambia which is known as the extreme sports capital of Africa. If bungee jumping, white water rafting and canyon swinging are your thing then Victoria Falls is most certainly the place to come for all you adrenaline junkies.

A Travel Guide To Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls 300x225 A Travel Guide To Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls, often known as the 'Vic falls' is regarded as Africa's most enchanting waterfalls. Standing at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, the falls present a stunning sight worth seeing for the tourists of both countries. It is widely known that the Zambian side falls slightly short compared to the Zimbabwean side when it comes to views, as from the Zimbabwean side you have a direct view of the "Devil's Cataract" and "Rainbow Falls". On the Zambian side, just a few miles down the road from the falls lies Livingstone which offers good, safe accommodation to it's visitors.

The land of energetic escapades, stimulating thrills and lively games is a heaven for adrenaline junkies. Special safaris can be taken to have a better view, some of which may go up to Botswana to see the larger game. The Okavango Delta in Botswana can be combined with a safari from Zambia, and if you are in the country for no longer than a day you can even avoid having to pay for a visa.

Victoria Falls3 300x199 A Travel Guide To Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls at Sunrise

There are around 600,000 UK tourists visiting Zambia every year with 90% of them heading out on a Zambia safari. With over half a million Brits visiting Zambia annually, they usually travel to two places, which include the South Luangwa National Park & Victoria Falls which is located on the Zimbabwe border in the south of the country. Victoria Falls is not just known for being the largest waterfall in Africa, but it's also the adventure capital of the continent. You can sit in a dingy, bungee jump from the border bridge as well as canyon swing from one side of the falls to the other. If that doesn't float your boat, then what about flying over the falls in microlight or a light aircraft for some of the most stunning and picturesque views you will get anywhere in Africa.

With the wealth of activities accessible in Zambia, it really is no surprise that over half a million tourists from the UK alone go on their African safari. Although you aren’t an adrenaline junkie, there are plenty of activities to do at Victoria Falls, which don't require you to throw yourself of a bridge. There is a walk around the National Park, which incorporates some excellent views of the Falls, as well as scenic boat trips that end with a sunset tour over the falls itself.

Luxor in Egypt

Luxor is sometimes referred to as the world’s largest open air museum, which is located in Egypt. It is one of the most sought after destinations for attractions for those taking one of the Egypt trips. The area has attracted tourists dating back to ancient times of the Dynasties of the Greek and Roman periods. People from all parts of the world continue to find Luxor to be a place of great interest.

There are actually three areas that people consider part of Luxor. The first is the City of Luxor that is on the east side of the Nile River. The next area is the town of Karnak, which is just north of Luxor and lastly, the city of Thebes, also called Waset, which is on the west side of the Nile River across from Luxor.

Once called Thebes, Luxor is directly across from the Nile River. The ruins of the temple of historic Egypt lie here, along with the temples, tombs and monuments of that time. Once the capital of Egypt, Luxor was also the worship point of the god Amon-Ra. The city began to gain importance in the 11th Dynasty, growing quickly into a renowned city known for its luxury and elevated social status. Political knowledge, art, religious, ideals and wisdom were all involved in this growing city.

People from all over the world would visit Thebes – the Hittites, Canaanites, Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Minoans. During the Late Period, Thebes lost much of its political and military importance. However, because it was the focal point of worship to the god of the Egyptians, it remained respected and popular among the people.

The city was attacked by Assurbanial, emperor of Assyria, and a Libyan price was placed on the throne. Thebes was mostly in ruins until Alexander the Great arrived for a religious feast, giving the city a name once again. Thebes remained popular for those interested in spiritual matters, and some of the monks of the Roman Empire founded monasteries there.

Luxor1 300x236 Get to Know the City of Luxor in EgyptToday, the city of Luxor has nearly 150,000 people and depends upon tourism for its financial stability. It has a unique government, making it more autonomous than other Egyptian cities. Some buildings in the city are structured to look like constructions from the time of the Pharaohs, such as a railway station, police station and financial institution. The Luxor Museum is small but has relics that will help you understand some of the other attractions in the area. The Mummification Museum is located across from the Mina Palace Hotel. At this museum, you can learn everything you ever wanted to know about mummies.

When taking one of the Luxor tours, the Egypt tour guide will take you through the city, following the Nile River. The temples along the way are most fascinating, giving one a clear picture of Egyptian architecture and culture. Connecting many of the buildings are long stone streets call dromos, which date back to the early Egyptian period. The city is most fascinating, taking one back to a time and place from long ago.

The city of Luxor

, with its temples and sphinxes, helps one realize the importance and magnificence of this amazing time in history.
